A day in the life and home of a child in an informal settlement

I woke up this morning and it was very icy outside.I did not want to go to school but I knew I had to. I wish we had proper beds to sleep on and lots and lots of blankets. So I put on my school uniform on, but I had no shoes on and there was no food to munch on. So I walked to school but the sand had frost on it, it was a hard painful walk to get to school. I got to school and went to class but I wish we had bricks around your classes but it is just corrugated iron. We finished school and I had to walk all the way home to my house. I wish i could just live in a house with bricks and be cozy.

I was at home and tried to read but it is so hard without your parents there to help you. So I just went to go play soccer with friends. It was getting dark and very cold again so i went home. My mom wasn’t there yet so I just waited for here. She finally came back from work and had some chicken I was very hungry so I ate. If you are wondering where my dad is, he died in a flood a few years ago. Then i went to my bed but I wasn’t tired so I just laid there and finally went to sleep. The the next morning I did the same thing.

  1. Thank you Louis. You have put some thought into this. It needs some editing. Remember to stretch yourself and make use of those adjectives and powerful verbs.
